After waiting nearly two weeks at Christmas Island for the swell to subside and allow discharge operations to commence at the crane berth, the BORKUM has finally managed to discharge all Fremantle full containers and break bulk cargo onto Christmas Island.
The stevedores also managed to back load all returning full containers and some empty containers, before the weather deteriorated and the ship had to vacate the berth.
The BORKUM will now proceed north to continue her regular voyage, as the prognosis is for the weather at Christmas Island to worsen over the next few days.
The shipping line will consider the possibility of carrying out a special south bound call into Christmas Island to continue back load of empty containers, but this will all depend on weather conditions and completion of inspection of outer moorings.
